Suiting, shirting, and ties are all essential to your business wardrobe. Nevertheless, gentlemen cannot wear ties and dress shirts every day and in all situations.  why would they when there is another established category of casualwear with a long and time honored legacy: Knits.

Custom knits include turtlenecks, mocknecks, cardigans, fishermen sweaters, cable knits, fair isle, and argyle. They are designed in quarter, half, and full zips, Hensley and Raglan pullovers, and polos, long and short sleeve. Most often cashmere, Saxxon, and merino wool are used for knits, although sometimes proper blends of wool and cotton, and even occasionally linen and silk are used. Furthermore, the most common sweater styles include crew neck and V-neck sweaters, often in Merino wool or mercerized Pima and Supima cotton, sometimes with and without buttons or zippers. Lastly, knits are also used to design custom loungewear including robes, sweatpants, pajamas, and even occasionally slippers.

House of Hawkes offers a curated collection of wools and cottons for the aforementioned custom knits. We offer two and three-ply Mongolian and Scottish cashmere, Saxxon wool, as well as  Pima and Supima cotton. We offer a wide array of colors and weights in cashmere, wool, and cotton, proper for several seasons. Whether you're in the market for an autumn turtleneck, a winter fair isle, a spring or summer cardigan or lightweight cotton sweater, or even lounge/sleepwear, we have a full collection available by appointment. Every gentleman should have a proper sweater collection for weekend, travel, and business casual purposes. 

All custom knits must be measured over a properly fitted and the master clothier and client will have a full discussion about the style, stitching, potential contrasts, and desired fit. House of Hawkes sources quality knits from Mongolia, Japan, and Scotland. Please allow for 4-8 weeks for the knit to be made, depending on the fabric ordered and the time needed to procure and make your custom knit garment.
